High-Tech Picnic
This was written just for fun, during a discussion on poetry. It only took a
few minutes to write. It is iambic pentameter, or 10 syllables per line with
the accent on every other syllable. I was trying for a sonnet, but it did
not turn out that way.
I like exploring themes involving the high-tech, or classic themes updated
for modern times. This is an overt example of such a juxtaposition.
The gentle sound of wind blows through the trees,
The redwood branches sway in gentle time.
I sit here watching nature at her best,
my back pressed firmly to the ancient bark,
the ground beneath me green with growing things.
The hard disk in my laptop stirs to life,
the keys clack softly 'neeth my finger tips.
My thoughts of beauty stored as ASCII codes,
technology and nature can combine
to make a pleasant picnic in the park.
